Florida was hit with Hurricane Matthew and Hermine in 2016 along with three tropical storms and withstood millions of dollars in damage. American Airlines Arena in Miami also faced the hurricanes, but its LED displays were able to hold up to the storm, according to a press release.
The Outdoor Gallery Series LED displays, designed by NanoLumens, were built to withstand hurricanes, according to the release. The arena deployed six displays in an underused outdoor plaza. The displays can showcase instant replays of events inside the arena and deliver advertisements to viewers.
“We are pleased, but not surprised, by how well our Outdoor Gallery Series LED solutions performed during this challenging hurricane season,” Nathan Remmes, vice president of marketing and business development, NanoLumens, said in the release. “The NanoLumens Outdoor Gallery Series displays are engineered to perform optimally in all types of outdoor environments with an IP65 weather protection rating. These displays will stand up to just about anything Mother Nature can deliver, from extreme temperatures to hurricanes.”
